Edward M. Bernstein
Bar number 1642 and forty-eight years at the Nevada bar — the longest-standing member on this site after Harris, and the second-lowest bar number. His status reads “ATTORNEY Exempt Active”, the same fee exemption Harris carries and explained on the state page.
“Exempt Active” is not a restriction. Per the State Bar of Nevada, the calendar year after a member’s 70th birthday they become exempt from annual licence fees. A member who stays Active still carries annual disclosures and 13 CLE hours a year. It denotes a senior lawyer, past 70, who never stopped practising — the same status Richard Harris carries.
The bar record
What Nevada publishes — and what it doesn’t
Nevada prints “Disciplinary Actions” affirmatively, with no time window: where there is nothing, it says None, and where there is something, it names the sanction, the case number and the date. That is more than most states on this site manage, and it is why a clean Nevada record means more than a clean Florida one.
What it does not publish is almost everything else. There is no practice-areas field, no fee-options field and no other-states field. Texas prints all three. So for every Las Vegas listing here, the connection between the lawyer and rideshare work comes from the firm’s own site, and any second-state admission is unverifiable from this register rather than merely unchecked.
So read the badge narrowly. It means a human opened the State Bar of Nevada directory on 29 July 2026 and read what it says about Edward M. Bernstein. Nevada also issues a fuller Certificate of Good Standing and Statement of Discipline History separately on request, which implies the directory entry is a summary rather than the file. We have not requested one.
Background
His register entry gives his law school as Delaware Law School; his bio says Widener University, J.D. 1975. Both can be right — Delaware Law School became Widener University School of Law — but the register prints the older name.Reported
The bio says he was admitted to the Nevada Supreme Court in September 1977, which the register's admission date matches, and that he has hosted The Ed Bernstein Show for over 31 years.Reported
It also states he was Nevada's Democratic nominee for the United States Senate in 2000 and has held numerous judicial pro tem and state commission appointments.Reported
